Well, after being shown this fancy calculator that uses your engine RPM, transmission ratio (Which in my case the 5 speed it has has a .799 overdrive), rear axle ratio, and the radius of the tire...

All that random stuff turns into the fact that at 2000rpms the federal will only be traveling at 43 miles an hour, ramp that up to 3000 and your going 63 miles an hour. My only option to gain any more road speed would be to swap out the rear axle for a 2 speed one from a newer GMC dump truck I have. With the axle in high range I could have the federal going 63 at 2 grand and 70 at 2200 give or take. My only problem is the fact that the engine might not be able to turn the tires at that speed... atleast not very well.

Federal 604 by RailroadinBrony
Federal 604
Built in the early 40s for the war, the Federal 604 was primarily used to pull a 5th wheel trailer to haul tanks. There was a wrecker version, a 606, that was 6x6 with basically a crane bolted to the frame rails. Both trucks used cummins engines as power plants.

This 604 has been modified for civilian use for the state. I neglected to put any sort of markings on the doors because I couldn't decide what state to give it to. :iconmingplz:

M915 by RailroadinBrony
M915
Pictured here is a representation of an AM General M915. a 400 big cam cummins with a Cat semi manual transmission. with a 50K lbs gvwr it was classified as a line haul tractor. I took some artistic liberties with drawing it as the reference I was using just didnt have the right angle but what I got seems to look alright haha

A federal project in the works
Just to show what I have been up to. Drawing for me has been at a minimum as of late, no time to devote to such activities. Its all just either work, mechanical hobby prospects or hanging out with friends. Maybe Ill get back into drawing but more then likely not any time soon...

Austin
Howdy, Im Austin. Not much to really tell other then my main interests are Trucks, tractors, cars and railroad related stuff. Not much diversity there, well, other then ponies. Ponies have been a very small part of my life and I have pretty much kept it that way. rarely do I devote any sort of time to them anyway.

I hope you enjoy some of my rather horrendous art and stay for awhile.
